FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Codex reset questions, separated.
Most confusion comes from using “reset” for several different things. These answers keep the public forecast, personal usage windows and confirmed announcements distinct.
What counts as a Codex reset?
For the primary forecast, it is a new public announcement of a broad, free, automatic Codex reset. The history may also record targeted or banked resets, but they remain clearly labeled and excluded from global model training.
Is this my weekly reset timer?
No. Personal usage windows are account-specific and are not predicted here. Use the Codex usage screen for your own timer and remaining allowance.
Is Codex Next Reset affiliated with OpenAI?
No. It is an independent community project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by OpenAI. Original OpenAI sources are linked when they support a row or definition.
How accurate is the prediction?
No accuracy claim is published yet. A future model must be evaluated in time order against simple baselines and checked for calibration. Until that evidence exists, the public percentage remains blank.
Why did the probability change?
A published estimate could change as the elapsed wait grows, a reviewed event is added or corrected, source freshness changes, or a new tested model version replaces the prior one. Both horizons must still come from the same snapshot.
Why does the site sometimes show no percentage?
An em dash means the model has not earned a number or the source snapshot is stale or unavailable. It does not mean zero percent and it does not imply that a reset is unlikely.
Where does the data come from?
The ledger prioritizes original public announcements and official guidance. Each visible event links to its evidence, preserves scope and timestamp precision, and records whether it is eligible for the broad forecast.
Can OpenAI reset usage without warning?
Product behavior and policy can change. This site only describes public evidence it can review; it cannot guarantee advance notice or observe changes inside every account.
How quickly is the tracker updated?
The page shows the last successful source-check time. A future collector must not advance that time when required sources fail, and candidates still need review before they become verified events.
Can I get an email when a reset is confirmed?
Not in this launch build. Email collection will not appear until double opt-in, unsubscribe, delivery deduplication and a real privacy disclosure are tested end to end.
